Why recycle beverage containers?
Recycling beverage containers helps us preserve and maintain a sustainable environment for ourselves, our children and our future generations by reducing the effect of waste and non-biodegradable products.
How can kids get involved in recycling?
Kids can definitely recycle too! Put them in charge of making sure recyclables end up in the curbside bin or indulge them in sorting the bottles and cans with you.
Do I need to crush my cans before taking them to a depot?
Generally, no. Contact the nearest Depot to determine its requirements.
Do I need to remove the caps from my bottles?
When recycling, we suggest you to empty and rinse the bottles and put the caps back on them.
Do I need to separate my beverage containers by material type?
It would be in your best interest to have your container load pre-sorted as it will save your time spent at the Depot.
Why is there different container recycling fees?
The container recycling fees vary by the size of the container and the material it’s made from. The fees cover the costs associated with recovering and processing the used beverage containers

Most depots have a way for you to donate your containers to a local charity. Depots also work with community groups and local organizations to host bottle drives.

Tips & Tricks
Ensure your containers are empty
Give the containers a quick rinse, especially milk containers
Flatten milk containers and jugs but do not crush other containers like cans and plastic bottles
You can pre-sort and count containers. Depots will gladly do it for you. but if you separate containers by size (0-1L and over 1L) and type (i.e. glass, metal, plastic, juice boxes) before you head to the depot, it will mean a faster return.
